In the wake of a devastating storm that destroys the infamous DeFeo house, a paranormal entity merges with a malevolent tornado, unleashing an otherworldly force upon the town of Amityville. In the mix are two best friends, who travel to Amityville for a quiet weekend away. The find themselves unwillingly fighting this malevolent spirit along with a ragtag group of misfit heroes. Directors Paul Tucker and Jeff Van Gerwen deliver a comedy horror that’s a breath of fresh air. With a novel premise, strong cast and undeniable humour, Amityvillenado is bound to strike a chord with fans of both indie filmmaking and classic sci-fi channel features. And if that’s not enough for you, perhaps the pop-punk style soundtrack will sweep you off your feet. What’s more impressive is how this film was created with a budget of just $5k. Ultimately I found Amityvillenado to be a fun watch, full of great humour, one-liners, fun music and some really cool set pieces too.
